The Ledbury

when the world-renowned two michelin-starred restaurant announced it was closing in the midst of the pandemic, it shook the hospitality industry…

Little did they know that behind closed doors, Brett and his team were busy with a bigger plan. These White Walls were invited to reimagine the restaurant’s interior, and we went to work to transform the tired space into a wildy elegant and conceptually considered interior that would breathe new life into The Ledbury for her relaunch.

In spring 2023, Brett and The Ledbury regained their two-Michelin star rating.

Our interior scheme sees raw, fluid, organic materials overlaid upon the rectilinear panelled dining space, creating a delightful tension between the formality of the fine dining experience and the wildly experimental experience of Brett’s art-like dishes.

Newly curved ceiling voids, cantilevered wait stations and floating glass shelves offer a sense of fluidity and better circulation routes for the ever-attendant wait staff.

Suspended sculptural floral arrangements, hand-scalloped wood and spectrum bronze mirrors add a textural complexity to the otherwise simple space. These details are redolent of the atmosphere found in the wild wooded estates where the ingredients were sourced, creating a connection between provenance and final performance of the meal.

There is subtle movement everywhere you look—from the brushstrokes that cover walls and ceilings, to the intriguing artworks showcased by London-based art studio, Based Upon.

Taking centre stage is a striking panelled wall clad with tiles of UK-grown mycelium—a humble fibrous fungus, here grown and nurtured by Osmose Studio who provided the wonderfully imperfect pieces and light fittings that grace the walls.

Here we bring the fungus out of the dark and re-imagine this material as an object of beauty and luxury, worthy to be displayed alongside more traditional luxury finishes, such as marble and walnut.

At These White Walls we are interested to discover the greater potential in the material world around us, in order to better define a new sense of luxury for our modern world.
